QCM6490 Cellular Edge Platform Adaptation | Obeita

This configuration is proposed for assessment. Confirm interfaces, components and performance for your specific project.

Build a connected edge device using an SG560D smart module on a six-layer carrier board. The QCM6490 platform combines application processing, cellular connectivity and display/camera expansion for an edge computer, equipment terminal or compact network appliance.

Module selection sets the configuration

The SG560D direction uses Kryo 670 CPU cores and Adreno 643 graphics, with LPDDR4X and UFS variants. Memory options described for the platform include 4/6/8 GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB storage. Cellular bands, radio features and image support must be confirmed for the exact module rather than copied across the whole family.

High-speed expansion and shared pins

The carrier exposes PCIe 3.0 ×2, MIPI DSI with touch, two MIPI CSI paths, microSD and sensor buses. USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode is assigned to USB1 only. QSPI flash shares pins with CAM0 and GPIO13/14/15/17; the peripheral plan must resolve this conflict before hardware selection or firmware configuration.

Image recovery and radio configuration

Android and Ubuntu are platform adaptation directions. Windows 11 remains a pending firmware item and is not presented as ready support. Before destructive flashing, preserve QCN/radio configuration and identify a recovery image for the specific module. A full erase without these records can destroy information required for normal cellular operation.

Carrier fabrication and thermal design

The six-layer stack-up and impedance controls matter for DDR/module and high-speed signal integrity. Assembly quality, module soldering and thermal coupling should be reviewed with the manufacturing process. The carrier includes a controlled-fan connection and a 5–12 V DC input direction; power transients and sustained workloads need measurement in the intended enclosure.

Proposed design configuration

These are configuration inputs for development; the final assembly, firmware and acceptance tests define the delivered specification.

Project questions

Can QSPI flash and CAM0 run together?

The listed pin allocation makes them mutually exclusive. Revise the peripheral plan or carrier mapping before attempting simultaneous use.

What must be backed up before a full erase?

Preserve QCN and other module-specific radio/configuration data, and confirm the matching recovery procedure. Do not treat a generic OS image as a complete device backup.
