RK3506J Embedded Linux Gateway Development | Obeita
This configuration is proposed for assessment. Confirm interfaces, components and performance for your specific project.

Consolidate serial instruments, current-loop sensors and discrete I/O on an RK3506J Linux gateway. The interface-rich design targets equipment that needs local data collection, configurable software and remote maintenance in one enclosure.
Mixed field interfaces
The proposed interface set includes four RS485 channels, two RS232 channels, two 4–20 mA inputs, two digital inputs and three digital outputs. Each channel requires an electrical definition as well as a software name. Current-loop power, grounding, scaling and isolation must be reviewed before connecting transmitters; digital-output drive capability is not inferred from the number of terminals.
Linux application and maintenance workflow
The RK3506J platform combines Cortex-A7 processing with a Cortex-M0 direction. Linux software can be scoped for serial collection, protocol adapters and a web configuration interface. Device overview, network settings, communication parameters and system status are distinct management screens; authentication, logging and recovery are part of the implementation, not cosmetic UI additions.
Storage and local display options
USB Host and a TF/SD slot provide peripheral and storage options. A display interface can support a local status panel if the selected screen and driver are matched. Headless and display-equipped variants should share configuration semantics while having separate mechanical and power checks. Retention capacity and filesystem recovery need explicit limits when local logging is required.
Proposed design configuration
These are configuration inputs for development; the final assembly, firmware and acceptance tests define the delivered specification.
| Item | Configuration |

| RS485 / RS232 | 4 × RS485; 2 × RS232 |
| Analog inputs | 2 × 4–20 mA design channels |
| Digital I/O | 2 inputs; 3 outputs |
| Storage / USB | TF/SD; USB Host |
| Management direction | Web configuration; optional local display |
Project questions
Can a two-wire 4–20 mA transmitter connect directly?
Check whether loop power is provided, how current is measured and how grounds are referenced. The current range alone does not define the wiring.
Does the display version use the same configuration as the headless version?
That is a useful design goal. Keep one parameter model and validate both the web and local interfaces against it.
