WS63 Wireless Module Integration | Obeita
Project status: proposed configuration. Final specifications and delivery scope require project validation.

Evaluate a WS63/Hi3863 wireless module for an embedded device that needs SLE, Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth LE connectivity. PCB-antenna and IPEX-antenna variants support different mechanical layouts, while a breakout board provides access for host and firmware development.
Radio mode comes before range claims
SLE 1.0, Wi-Fi 6 and BLE 5.2 are different protocol paths on the platform. Select the host role, peer device and payload timing before choosing firmware. Multi-radio hardware does not by itself establish simultaneous operation, interoperability or a guaranteed site distance. Those depend on firmware, scheduling, antennas and the environment.
Antenna and carrier-board choices
A PCB antenna needs a suitable keep-out area and clearance from metal. An IPEX option allows antenna positioning outside a crowded enclosure, but adds cable and connector considerations. The breakout exposes GPIO, reset, serial signals, power and ground for evaluation. The final pin assignment must follow the module revision and chosen firmware functions.
From evaluation module to connected product
Potential applications include a sensor, local actuator or control link in a building device. We define provisioning, reconnection and host message framing alongside the radio selection. A compact module specification must also distinguish module dimensions and voltage from those of a powered development kit or finished DTU.
Proposed design configuration
These are configuration inputs for development; the final assembly, firmware and acceptance tests define the delivered specification.

Project questions
Does the module run all three radios simultaneously?
Do not assume so. Confirm the firmware mode and test the required combination, memory use and scheduling.
Which antenna is better for a metal enclosure?
An external antenna may be appropriate, but cable routing, ground reference and the final mounting position need RF evaluation.
