STM32 Data Acquisition and MQTT Integration | Obeita

Delivered project. The completed hardware and software met the customer’s agreed requirements in testing. Specifications for a new project must be agreed separately.

Obeita delivered this STM32 data acquisition and MQTT integration project, taking customer requirements through contract scoping, hardware and software design, physical testing and delivery. The work centred on the connection between instrument data and the fields expected by the receiving system, rather than assuming that a serial link alone completes acquisition.

Defining the measurement-to-message chain

The documented STM32F407 architecture reads instruments through RS232 or RS485 and provides an MQTT integration direction. The engineering task connects the instrument’s data representation to the destination’s application format. Requirements and contract scope established the acquisition and reporting functions to be delivered.

For this type of work, frame decoding or register access, scaling, units, device identification, collection timestamps and error handling must be considered together. RS485 specifies the electrical interface; it does not prove that an instrument uses Modbus or that its values match a server’s expected fields.

Integrating acquisition firmware with the selected uplink

Obeita completed the hardware and software design for the agreed acquisition project. The public architecture includes Ethernet for local networking and an EC200M cellular direction whose module variant and local carrier support must be checked against the deployment. These are network integration choices supporting the instrument-to-server chain.

MQTT topics, topic permissions, payload fields and command responses must match the receiving platform. Authentication, reconnection and treatment of unsent measurements should be defined for each implementation. Offline retention requires an agreed storage capacity and replay policy; these are not established by the presence of an MQTT connection.

Keeping data interpretation visible in a similar project

When adapting this architecture to another instrument, a known reading can be compared with its raw frame, decoded value and outgoing payload. That provides a practical way to define acceptance around the complete data path. The specific checks and reporting conditions must be agreed for that new project.

Documented architecture and configuration

The table records the documented architecture, configuration directions and selection boundaries for this case. Optional items, firmware-dependent choices and expansion directions are not independent guarantees that every listed option was delivered. The agreed project hardware, software and functional scope define the actual delivery.

Item Configuration
Controller STM32F407 platform
Instrument interfaces RS232 and RS485
Local networking Ethernet
Cellular direction EC200M; module variant to match deployment
Server protocol MQTT; topics and payload agreed per project
Application examples Environment, agriculture and remote equipment monitoring

Delivery outcome and test scope

The agreed acquisition hardware and software were completed and delivered. Physical functional testing confirmed that the delivered project met the customer’s requirements.

The completion statement does not publish an accuracy figure, a network-disconnection test result or a guaranteed retention capability. It also does not imply compatibility with every instrument protocol, carrier or MQTT-based cloud platform.
